I do not think there is a more nostalgic or romantic night of the year than Christmas Eve.
From the on set of the Birth of Baby Jesus. To the atmosphere of hope. Our faith is at it's strongest. Our compassion for others is high and the magic of the norther star above us brings everything to life.
Yes the twinkling lights we have adorned and our Christmas decorations add to the excitement. Knowing our Children are snuggled safe and warm in their beds. Also brings us peace.

Well we are getting down to the last minute here for those happy holiday shoppers who wait until the last minute to get it done.
There are still a few terrific sales that are going on so no worry there.
This years my biggest issue was: My daughter has so much.....what else can I get for her.
In this day of fast Electronics and Video Games Galore. The Games systems keep changing with each year. We decided to come back down to earth and buy more traditional toys and clothing. As more of a get back to reality.
So that lead me to ask. What... more

Oh this is the most delightful time of year for me. My memory always goes back to the first Christmas our children spent with us in our home.
My husband and I have always been one for big Christmas surprises and we have a cherished family heirloom that sparks the spirit of Christmas every year in our home.
It is a cherished velvet and mink Santa Suit. With all the beautiful trimmings right down to a jolly pair of eye glasses for checking Santa's List.
Needless to say my husband and I had one of our other distant family members... more
When ever you adopt an older child who has memories of their birth families. You must also think about the pain of loss that they feel when the time for family holidays approach us.
Knowing that it is never the child's fault for the loss of their birth parents and that the children are often so young they do not understand the "Why" of their Termination of Parental Rights. They often feel a great guilt and loneliness during their birthdays or other personal family holiday moments.
It is very important to be respectful of your adopted child and to allow them the time and space to grieve their losses. It is also just as important to remind them that time changes all things.... more
My husband gave me the most precious Christmas gift a few years ago. She was a tiny little thing. An American Kennel Club Registered Pekingnese. She had been born on my Birthday. November 21 st. So needless to say we celebrate big time. She gets a new toy and some cool treats and mom gets ice cream and cake.
She is turning 3 this year and she is so ready to be a mommy. She recently nursed a 4 week old kitten. She managed to keep it alive and thriving with help from our daughter Angela.
So my husband decided to give me a gift just a bit early this year for my birthday. An AKC Registered Male Pekingnese. We will be driving down to Kentucky to pick him... more
The older my children get. The more I come to the reality that it takes a life time to raise a child.
When you adopt children. You can bet that you will visit all the phases of raising your child plus a few more that you didn't even think about.
Adoption is for the Brave at Heart. It is not something for Sissy's. That is of course unless you are adding a child to your family just for "Sissy" to play with. Then in that case it includes Sissy.
Adoptive parents and Foster parents are a lot like the medical industry. The doctors, nurses... more
Yesterday was an important day for every citizen to vote for who they felt would be a good Govenor and what issues needed to be addressed in their own state.
My husband took our daughter with him to Vote. Angela is very personable and the home town crowd had fun teasing her and asking her who she wanted to vote for.
What they didn't expect was her opinion. Well needless to say they got it. I think even my husband and I were a little shocked to hear what she had to say.
It seemed that she had listened to the commercials and she had a very "As a matter of fact" opinion. She said that Devoss was a better choice for Govenor but that she felt Grandholm would win... more

Yesterday I met a few people who are really down on their luck. One of them began to cry and before you knew it her life story came flowing out of her like a novel that someone had neglected to read.
She was a Foster child who had been bounced around a lot in life. She managed to pull herself together and met someone and fell in love. She had all these expectations of how her life would be since she would never allow her children to go through what she had, had to endure during her childhood.
Here she is with two daughters of her own... more
