Adrenaline Rushes In Adopted Children

Often, as the mother of 39 children, it seems as if I run only on adrenaline. I don’t like it, I prefer serenity, a more tranquil environment, but such is not my life.

The term 'adrenaline junkie' came to my mind and I looked it up.

Originally, it was used to describe argumentative people who deliberately (consciously or unconsciously) find excuses to explode in order to get an adrenaline fix. After the adrenaline rush wears off, they become agitated, which causes them to... more

Lest We Forget

It is with great sadness that I remind everyone of Ricky Holland who was murdered by his adoptive parents back in July of 2005. We thought that his body would be laid to rest by now. However it remains in a freezer at Michigan State Coroner's lab.

It seems that is adopted Grand parents who never stepped in to protect him while he was alive. Want the body to burry it with their family.

His biological parent would like to burry him with her family. So the matter remains in conflict. While the little boy who lost his life to the hands of his adopted mom, still awaits his final resting place.

It is needless to say that this is an issue that has not received a... more

The "Adopt Me...." Thought Plan

I have sat and wondered often in the play room of our Adoption Agency what the children must be thinking?

I have seen children just shut down and you can look into their little eyes and they are dark and sad. I have watched as the little ones play and have fun with siblings and they are full of joy. Then there are those sitting off by themselves.

It couldn't be a pleasant experience sitting there waiting for parents who never show up. With my 4 precious babies that is exactly what happened every time. Except for one time... more

Tuesday Blues

Well, Valentine's Day and all the excitement are over. It is another school day. No one wants to get up so early when it is below zero and bone chilling weather.

These are the kinds of days I like to snuggle my daughter and let her sleep as long as she needs; let her wake up to a warm breakfast and just be lazy.

I keep checking the school web site hoping they will read my mind and call off school for the day. However, I bet they won't.

Sometimes even the kids need a quiet morning. Angela likes school and if she is sick she knows that she can't stay home and then play with her friends later (they always seem to feel better after school is out). So I adore it when... more

When Does Poverty Become Abuse?

In the past several months I have watched as many of my neighbors have had their homes foreclosed on them. Not because they are bad people but rather good families who have lost their income due to factories and businesses in our area closing and moving out of state.

People who have lived here all of their lives are being forced to relocate. Our Governor was re elected back into office with her promise not to raise taxes and not to take away the child welfare benefits. With in two weeks she signed the bill limiting welfare benefits and in the recent state... more

Someone Punched Out The Town Bully

Posted by : Sharlene in Older Child Adoption Blog at 04:46 pm , 376 words, 96 views

Everyone was whispering at the grocery store. It seemed the buzz around town was how some kid finally punched out the town Bully.

I guess the town Bully thought he would pick on one of the new kids in the area. He was being very mean to this other little boy and some other kid picked him up and walked to the front of the school bus. Asked the driver to pull over and then took the kid over and sat him down in the middle of a big pile of snow.

The bus driver reported the incident and before the day ended it had been gossiped about all over town. In reality... more

The Children Left Behind

When nine-eleven hit and the world stood still. As we faced our first serious Terrorist Attack. The world fell silent and America fell on her knees.

When the rubble was finished falling and the day was nearing the end. We grieved for all the families of the people who would never be coming home again.

God love the children. Left in this world to face life without that parent. Taken from them by the worst act of terrorism that America has ever known on her land.

Just like the children each day who loose a parent in the fighting that goes on in the world. From Africa to Iraq. Now the shores of home welcome back the bodies of our soldiers each and every day.... more

Ricky Holland is Finally Laid To Rest

Posted by : Sharlene in Older Child Adoption Blog at 05:42 am , 347 words, 91 views
Categories: In The Spotlight

A celebration occurred here in Michigan yesterday as the body of little Ricky HOlland was laid to rest. Mourners and Supporters of Childrens Rights came out to help say good bye and watch as his body was buried and he was given a final resting place.

Ten years from now only a few of us will remember him. Only a few of us will recall how his adopted parents murdered and discarded his little body in a trash bag on a lonely road.

My hope and prayers will be that one child is saved. From the story of this child's demise.

The parents are serving their time. His body is now buried. The case is closed.

At least for Ricky justice did finally prevail.... more

January Sunshine

It may very well feel like spring time has hit your area but it simply has not.

This is one of the warmest January seasons we have ever experienced here in the upper Mid Michigan area. We have had one inch of snow that fell in late October and since then not one flake has managed to appear.

Every where I look there are children out in short sleeves and it alarms me. This false since of spring time could cause so many parents to relax and not make their children dress warm enough for the changing weather. Which will lead to alarming numbers... more
