Well the Holiday season is fast approaching and people all around us are in need of adoption. There are so many types of adoption. This is just one of the most fun examples in my opinion.
There are angel trees located at Wal Mart and at the Salvation Army. Where each tree represents a family or child in need. Those of us who are more blessed than others or who have little left of family to buy for can always find someone to share their gift giving with.
Maybe you have a family near you that you know of who could use a helping hand. Or a family who... more
It is Opening Gun Season for deer hunting today. Our schools even gave all the kids the day off so the fathers and sons could go off and hunt together.
I know that there is a huge population of Deer this year. They have been prancing around and playing out in the fields at dusk for almost two months. The harvest left them good grain and corn to feed upon. So there are an abundance of healthy deer out there.
I have never been one to like hunting. I do respect those who hunt and process the deer meat for eating. However I am not one to like hunting... more
In October Oprah Winfrey did a talk show on "Mom's around the World." It impressed me because most of us never see what Mothers of different areas in the world go through to raise their children.
One lady was an American Eskimo who happened to be raising her two children in Alaska. Where the winters are harsh and it sometimes gets down to 108 below zero. She elaborated on how they hunt and process food to help keep them warm in the cold months of wicked winter. Where Whale meat and fat is one of the ways they keep their body strong and nourished to survive the cold.
One Mom was from Africa. She was the sole parent left to raise 10 children. She carried items from place... more
One thing we rarely talk about is when we know it is time to stop adopting and focus on the children we have in our home. It is often a hard question to face and even harder to answer.
Good parents are so hard to come by and when you find people with open arms and a loving heart you want to allow every child in the world to know them.
As foster parents we thought we would be like most foster parents with over 100 children in our home before we decided to close our license.
In reality we ended up adopting the first sibling unit that came into... more
Everyone who has read anything about the Ricky Holland case on this blog knows that I am very passionate about this little boy. How he lived. And, Why he was murdered.
I have followed his story from the beginning. Now after both the adoptive parents have been tried and sentenced for murder. Now as they sit behind bars. The question of "Who gets Ricky's body to bury?" is being reviewed.
If you ask me, I think they should place his little body in a monument and let it stand as a daily memorial out side of the County DHS office.
So that each worker passing by can be encouraged on a daily basis to do their job to the best of their ability. Lest one more... more
Since July of 2005 when little Ricky Holland was reported missing by his adoptive parents. His murderer would walk free for several months. In January 2006 after a heated argument. The adopted father reported his murder and took the police to where the young boys body was found.
Both Parents accused the other of murdering the boy. The adopted father plea bargained his sentence down by testifying against his wife Lisa Holland.
Her trial ended October 23, 2006 and now it is in the hands of the Jury. Of course we know she will be convicted for the murder of this little boy. But we do not know to what degree of murder and how long she will spend in prison.

Madonna decided with her husband to adopt a child. After her trip to Africa. She decided to try and adopt a child from Africa. She met a small boy named David who had been placed in the Orphanage after his mother died.
David had a 103 degree fever and was very ill when Madonna went to the orphanage to meet David. She said that all she wanted to do was help him. She set forth to adopt David.
He is now 13 months old. Living here in the U.S.A. with Madonna, her husband and her daughter. A social worker will visit them monthly to make sure they are giving David a good life.
Madonna however, has had a tremendous amount of bad press because Davids father,... more
One of the nicest ways to encourage your child to read is to give them a book as a present.
With Christmas only two and a half months away. Parents with more than a few kids to buy for begin early Christmas shopping now.
There are several good children's books coming out in the near future. One of my favorites that are on the market now for young girls is "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants." I just ordered that series for my niece Shelby for Christmas. She is 9 and in 4th grade. She loves to read but never at home. So to encourage her to read... more
As time has passed by families have carried on. No matter what beset them. They kept their faith and loved one another.
When the settlers decided to move out west. They went by wagon trains pulled by horses. Many people got sick and died on their way to a new home. When this happened other families took compassion on the children who had lost their parents to the harsh weather of the Wicked Western Trails.
These families that were apart of the wagon train took in the children and they became part of a new family and carried on their way West... more
Today the children at our local Elementary Schools will have an Outside Harvest Day.
They will go from booth to booth where they will be taught about harvesting seeds and corn for the year to come. They will be taught about how plants grow and how the ground is prepared for the new crop to be planted next year.
They will taste good foods that can be made with the harvested vegetables and flower or wheat. There will be games to play and everyone will rotate from place to place and have fun today.
Parents were told to dress... more
