The court takes issue with the delinquent child and like they did with my daughter they removed her from our home and placed her in a Pre Adult Foster Home.
They thought this was a safe environment for the child. To give the parents a well deserved break and to give the child time to think and get all their ducks in a row.
After all it will not be long before the juvenile court will no longer be responsible for the child. They will in fact be turned over to the adult courts. Adult court judges do not take in to consideration that you are adopted or have had a bad life. They are not like the juvenile court judges at all.
I am sure that the foster mom has... more
When you live in a small town you usually hear about everyone and everything. Sometimes it is good news and sometimes it makes you sad.
Today I heard about the down side of adoption. I know what it does to the adoptive parents. I have been on this end with my own daughter April. Today I heard a little of what it can do to the child.
An older child was adopted by a family. They were sure they could make things work. After a few years of one bad incident after another the adoptive parents just could not go on and they petitioned the court and DHS to... more
Lisa Holland, The adoptive mother of Ricky Holland. Her trial began yesterday with opening statements. Monday, September 18, 2006. They played the 911 tape of the phone call Ricky's adopted father made. Describing how his bed had been pulled near the window and Ricky was missing but not with his wife. For someone please to help them find him.
His voice had all the fake emotion in it. All along he knew where this little boy was. He knew that just a short time before that phone call that his child had been murdered. By the hands of his wife so he says now.
If you ask me he is in just as deep as his wife is. They adopted this child together and... more
The news papers were full of stories about young Ricky Holland and the murder trial that has begun here in Michigan.
The adoptive father took a plea bargain to second degree murder if he would testify against the adoptive mother.
He told how Ricky did not like coleslaw slaw. He had gone and gotten Kentucky Fried Chicken for dinner that night. He had made Ricky a plate with no Cole slaw. When the adoptive mother saw the plate she took it from Ricky and she put a place full of Cole slaw before him and told him that was his dinner and to eat it all.
The adoptive father said his wife asked him to run to the store to pick up something. When he returned home. She was... more
With every adoption agency there are similarities. Legal formalities that every couple that consider adoption must go through. Some agencies differ from others in how they complete the back ground check on the potential parents. Or how they proceed in the home study of potential parents.
This is one reason we hear stories about children like Masha. The five year old girl who was adopted from Russia's number one orphanage.
The adoption went along like most international adoptions. Paper work, paper work and more paper work. After all was finished the adoptive father made his trip to Russia to pick up his new daughter. He brought her home with him to live in... more
Well the kids are off and launched into the world of Big Yellow Buses and Education.
We have gotten through class room orientations. School Emergency Cards. School supplies they need or do not need to bring to school. Class room rules. Snack times, lunch schedules and what time the school bus arrives for pick ups.
Now I have been daily reminding my kids of school bus safety. I told them that teen drivers and even some parents are not used to the buses being back on the roads yet. So they do not drive as safely as they should. So we do... more
As a follow up to our Blog on "Stupid In America." I received an excellent comment about educational differences in France compared to America. From a Mom living in France who is American.
Education is one of the areas that I have expressed concerns over for many years. To many of our adopted and foster children are not successful in achieving a high school diploma. Thus they do not take the open opportunities for higher education that are available to them.
One of our own Bloggers here on AdoptionBLOGS.com. Michelle Vandepas also made an excellent comment and asked a question. She wanted to know if I thought this could be one of the reasons that more Parents... more
America has a list of things that need to be Improved upon. To say the least Education falls near the top of this list.
It seem's everyone from Bill Gates to the staff of 20/20 agree that something needs to happen. We need to change the way American Children are learning. As a rule of thumb we are calling for a "Back to the Basics" investigation in our school systems.
We are spending more and more money per child for each school year. With little results. As a matter of fact there has been a decline in quality Education.
America is falling behind in it's challenge to Educate and Provide "quality" in educational character of our graduates.
So what... more
Thailand is a well traveled vacation spot for people who enjoy natural beauty. It is full of night life and many people are drawn there because
children are bought and sold for sex in the back alleys of Bangkok.
"Thailand, officially the Kingdom of Thailand, is a country in Southeast Asia, bordering Laos and Cambodia to the east, the Gulf of Thailand and Malaysia to the south, and the Andaman Sea and Myanmar to the west. Thailand was also known as Siam (Thai: สยาม; IPA: [saˈjaːm]), which was... more
The Ricky Holland case is still open and was to begin in September. Both parents were to be at trial but each have their own jury.
Now the defense attorney says that bringing in the statements that both the Hollands gave to police will hinder their clients from having a fair trail. So a Pre Court Appeal is on.
The husband said the wife "Lisa hit Ricky in the head with a hammer. Which killed the boy." Lisa says that the "Her husband suffocated or strangled their son."
The facts are the little 7 year old boy was hit in the head with a blunt object (hammer) then placed in a trash bag and taken to a remote dirt road and tossed out on the side of the road.
