A Walk In The Park

Looking around to find the culprits causing all the noise in the park. Much to my surprise I see five full grown teenage babies. Running and jumping on the tables and benches or falling off the cement piggy spring (where the little ones usually play).

Just another day in the park. I shake my head and go on with my own drama filled book I began reading, before all the noise started.

The next thing I notice is a woman coming out of her home a crossed the street from the park bench where I was sitting.

Her loud voice and violent words were offensive to me as well as the teenagers at play. You would have thought we were invading her back yard. She definitely felt ownership over the park and how one uses it.

What was just a few teenagers running and chasing each other around, became an obvious invasion of the park to this distressed woman. Before you knew it the police were on the scene.

Of course the officer right away began issues with the teenagers. In my opinion the woman should have been arrested for disturbing the peace and using foul language in a public area.

The officer would not listen to the teenagers. He just blindly took the word of this lady. I felt obligated to walk over and to let the officer know the kids were just chasing each other and playing. They were not harming anything. However the woman was way out of line talking to anyone with such disrespect.

What would have been just a few teens passing through the park off into the evening. Turned into
a nightmare on Main Street.

Sometimes people just over react when they see a few teenagers hanging out together. It is sad that every child in that age group suffers for the few that give the world of teenagers a bad name.

I think the situation would have resolved itself had the lady just watch from her window for a few minutes longer and given the kids enough time to move on.

Instead her bad choice made her look like a fool and caused hard feelings between her and the teenagers
she had called the police on.

What do you think? Did this woman over react or am I under reacting?

I think you were right in feeling that way. I think people tend to think the worst of teens when as you said they should take a moment to see what the whole picture is. Would rather see them out just having fun that way than causing real trouble.
