Well the Holiday season is fast approaching and people all around us are in need of adoption. There are so many types of adoption. This is just one of the most fun examples in my opinion.
There are angel trees located at Wal Mart and at the Salvation Army. Where each tree represents a family or child in need. Those of us who are more blessed than others or who have little left of family to buy for can always find someone to share their gift giving with.
Maybe you have a family near you that you know of who could use a helping hand. Or a family who does not have many friends to spend the holidays with.
A simple invitation to come over for diner and watch a Christmas movie could help them feel loved and cared for this Christmas season.
Get your kids involved. Teach them about giving.
Bake extra cookies and make up some for good neighbors and then go as a caroling group and hand the cookies out.
Bake up an extra pumpkin pie and take it over to the elderly couple down the street. It is simple things that touch the heart and mean the very best.
There are five families near me that I know will not have a good Christmas if someone else does not adopt them. What makes it sad is there are children involved.
I know as a parent that if I lost my job like these people and could not afford to give my kids any kind of Christmas. I would be very down and depressed. It is in these times that the love of a neighbor and just a few gifts can make life more joyful.
This year I am not in shape to adopt a family and that hurts me most. I will do good to just buy a few gifts for my grand children. I know that if someone adopted my family I would feel blessed this year and so great full to God.
I have always been the one giving. It feels funny not to be established enough this year to adopt a few families of my own. I am getting a first hand look at the other side of the coin myself.
So my kitchen will be busy baking and I will still be delivering cookies to the families I know. My thanksgiving table will be an open invitation for anyone to join us. I am sure the Christmas movies are going to be playing in our home over the next month or two and the atmosphere will be bright and festive.
We will spend our Holidays being thankful for what we have and the friends we will share time with. So adopt a family from the Christmas angel tree.
Or bake cookies like we are. The gift of you and your time is just as precious as one hundred dollar bills.
Let the holiday spirit begin within your heart and let it pass on to others and may we all have a happy holiday season.
