Since July of 2005 when little Ricky Holland was reported missing by his adoptive parents. His murderer would walk free for several months. In January 2006 after a heated argument. The adopted father reported his murder and took the police to where the young boys body was found.

Both Parents accused the other of murdering the boy.
The adopted father plea bargained his sentence down by testifying against his wife Lisa Holland.

Her trial ended October 23, 2006 and now it is in the hands of the Jury. Of course we know she will be convicted for the murder of this little boy. But we do not know to what degree of murder and how long she will spend in prison.

This is just one of the many cases of child abuse and neglect that happen each year in our Country.
I wonder if Ricky ever had anyone in his life that treasured him and gave him love. Or did he die in fear of the parents who adopted him and promised him that love and never delivered it?

It is in these moments when I encourage parents who decide to adopt to make sure that this is what is right for their family. Look into adoption and make a decision based on your desires and your knowledge of the child you choose. Then both of you can be happy and create a loving family.

Of course every parent has moments when their child is a pain in the neck. When they wish they were laying on a beach somewhere in the Bahamas instead of standing in the kitchen trying to hurry the kids out the door before they miss the school bus.

Children come in many sizes with as much style and attitude as the clothes they choose to wear. Living with a strong minded child is never a cake walk.

So parents who decide to adopt need to know all the issues about their child so they know what they are facing when they enter into this life long agreement.

Every adoption agency also offers special workers to help families of adoption deal with difficult times. So never be afraid to ask for help if you feel your family needs it.

What depresses me most in situations like this one with The Hollands is Ricky’s life is gone forever.
The parents who live on will receive 3 meals a day, shelter over their heads, a place to stay warm and sleep. They might even write a book or make a movie which will bring them money as a reward for what they have done to Ricky. After all they are just telling us their story?

Well I don’t buy it and I never will. I don’t think killers should profit from the life they took away. I also don’t think they should be treated well and live better than a vast amount of families in this world.

Prison in America is so humane that many Families in other countries would think it was a good life to live behind American Bars.

Sometimes I think that the price they pay for their injustice is far less than what they should be accountable for.

Soon we will forget this little boy and the whole Holland case. The adoptive father and mother will be in jail. But in 20 or so years they will be set free and have a new try at life. I just wish Ricky had been set free and given a second chance at adoptive life. With a loving family who could have cherished him and watched him grow. So is there justice? Ricky I hope you have found it in the safe and loving arms of Jesus. Fly little angel…
Fly.
