Adoption is like looking up into the sky on a dark night. You see a vast space that is filled with tiny little lights. Each light is like one child who has found his or her way to a new family.

In some places you see patterns beginning to form like the "Big Dipper." Where someone has shared a positive Adoption experience and some one new near them decides to adopt also.

Spread out as far as you can see there are these little lights. One or two scattered here and there.
Filling the sky.

Each time you log on the computer and you read about a new adoption it is like connecting one small light to another. Soon the formation begins and lives are touched one by one and those little lights become a brilliant pattern. We know we are no longer alone.

Looking closer through a telescope of Love we find another little child. Happily playing and rebuilding life one piece at a time. Like watching a child build a sand castle. Sometimes the sand holds and sometimes it falls. So with each attempt we must be diligent and creative. Never giving up on the structure and stability of Life.

Just like a day in the park. There is so much to do but at times we have to stop and just let the wind touch our face and swing into each new moment. Adoption touches each life differently. Some times with excitement and splendor. At times it can bring heartache also. But every experience is unique and different.

Thinking about how many lives are touched daily by adoption and how many children still need a safe place to call home. Often over whelms me. I think that is why so many people who adopt tend to think "Just one more child" might fit into our family.

It is a world of love and compassion. When you see the growth your adopted child makes it bring such joy into your life. Each accomplishment is just another part of the journey.

Thank God for the families out there that have opened their homes and taken in just one more child.
That is what has made the vision of the night sky such a beautiful map. One tiny star at a time we are providing for the worlds children.

Next time you ask "What is so great about adoption?
Just look at a child's face. That alone should tell you all you need to know. Adoption is just another way to place smiles on sad faces and to rekindle joy in the sad hearts of children all over our world. It is my reason for smiling.
