Another Day In The Neighborhood

Well here it is another day in our neighborhood and I feel like a slug. Just one of those mornings where I want to stretch and open a window and feel a cool breeze fill the air. Only if it were summer.

We have had the coldest two days out of this whole winter this past weekend. So anything above freezing is a break in weather.

Like most of us humans and animal creatures, we all long for a sunny day. To lift our spirits and warm our body. Not to mention what it will do for our soul and minds.

The kids are getting a little cranky because they can't play as long outside. They have built their snowman and made their snow angels and shoveled and played with the fluffy white stuff long enough. They are tired of peeling off layers of clothes and snow pants and boots and gloves and hats and coats. They want to play in the sun.

As a family we stay busy playing games and telling stories of past vacations. We snuggle up with a good DVD and pass a few hours. We have gone skating and bowling., out to the movies. But everyone needs a treat.

So mom has decided to plan one. We can't afford to fly off to some warm spot and dad can't get the time off work. But we sure can rent a hotel room with a fabulous pool and hot tub. Maybe even a game room and enjoy a weekend away.

If your family has a bad case of the winter blahs like ours has, take some time and plan a little fun getaway. It doesn't have to cost to much. It just has to lift the winter spirts and give us hope that spring will come soon.

Anyone out there want to share some other great ideas on how to chase away the winter blahs for larger families? Leave us a comment and tell us some of the fun things your family does when being inside on cold days gets you down.

All comments are welcome.

Hi Sharlene,
We have the unusual problem of having too much sunshine out here! But I do remember those days from our time in Pennsylvania, prior to moving to AZ six years ago.

We actually wore ourselves out when we moved here, and tried to go out and do something every day, and then we realized it was always going to be sunny and we could relax.

Email me and I'll send you some sunshine, if you'll send us some rain.
