There is nothing more fun than summertime and baseball. Getting all the kids out on the field and matching them up with a baseball glove, ball and bat.
The game it's self teaches so many things. First of which is team work. The child learns to go up to bat. Hit the ball and run to first base. Trying to make it safely there. As the other team works together to catch the ball and toss it to the first baseman to tag the batter out.
When the first player is safe on first then another one of his team mates comes up to bat. He waits until his team mate hits the ball then he tries to run to second as the team mate tries to make it safe to first.
If all goes well they stay on base awaiting another team mate to hit the ball and they all run to the next base, trying their best not to get tagged out.
While the new team mate tries to make it to first.
All this time the other team works hard together to catch the ball and make an instant OUT or secure the ball and toss it to the person nearest 3rd base to keep the runner from making it home SAFE.
The excitement fills the air as all the bases are loaded and the new team mate walks up to take his turn to bat the ball.
By this time the audience is very into what is going on. The other team are really on their toes trying to cover it and make sure no one makes it to HOME base.
The new batter hits the ball. Everyone watches in silence until it is caught, dropped, or missed by the other team out in field.
A roar begins to build as the batter begins his run to first base. The other kids on the bases run too.
Everyone one trying to make it to the next base and maybe another base before the field team has control of the ball.
The 3rd base runner makes it home. The second base runner makes it safe to third. The first base runner is tagged out at second base. The batter makes it to first.
The out field team roars with pride they got one out now. The game begins to be fun again. The little second base player fills the grief of not making it safe to second. But it is all part of the game and it will happen to everyone at some point in time.
He just has to be a good sport and wait for another chance to hit the ball. Everyone is just trying hard to help out their own team and to win the game.
Sometimes there are nine innings. At times there are even more. Depends on how good the kids all work together.
Baseball is like a hot dog and cold drink. It's as American as Apple Pie. Every kid should experience it. I highly recommend this sport to families for weekend fun. Or an afternoon of exercise.
Every mom and dad should attend and play or at least be there to experience the excitement as their children learn so much from a simple game of baseball. They learn team work ethics that will last a life time. They learn to deal with the Outs and not be so sad. Just know they will try again and maybe harder next time. The experience the joy of enthusiasm. The elation of winning and the down side of a loss.
Bottom line is they are all in the game and they are a team. All for one and one for all. That's how it is in Baseball.
