Carnivals and School Supplies

Well it is getting to be that time of year again. The carnivals are out in clear sight in every home town.
The state fairs and county fairs are in full swing.
All the 4 H clubs are sporting their prize animals.
They are being auctioned off to the highest bidder.
Aunt Clare is entering her famous apple pie in the pie contests...and the weekend papers are full of school supply sales.

It is fun to watch the joy on the faces of the 4H fair winners. All their time and support of the cows, lambs, pigs and other barn yard animals. Has finally paid off.

I know the love and attention that the kids have given to the care and up keep of the animals has made each of their parents proud of them.

Trying to explain that to our youngest daughter was a bit hard. She could not get over why any kid would want to shovel a barn stall. Or bath a pig or cow. She thinks cleaning her kitty litter is more than enough of a job at her age.

After the county fair we took her out to get some new school supplies. Everything was on sale and we wanted to pick up a few things for her teacher to help keep the class going for the new school year.
So we bought some tissues and paper towels. Picked up some 30 bottles of Elmers school glue and headed for the check out.

Angela had a new back pack, some paper and some cool new crayons and pencils, a ruler, some colorful stickers and glue sticks and a few assorted fun things to make her happy.

We watched as other parents were there picking out things for their kids too. A couple of mom's seemed to be stressed to their limit as they tried to count and re count how many of what they had and, how many kids needed this or that.

I remember those days when I was buying for 3 kids and all of them were calling my name at one time.
Wanting to know if they could have this or that.
That is when I got smart and began "mommy and me" time. I would take each kid by their self alone with me and shop for just what they wanted and needed. Every kid got a chance to shop and every kid got my full attention.

Now with just Angela school shopping is fun and it's a breeze. No more headaches.

So for all of the busy mom's out there. I fully suggest idividule trips to shop for each kid. It cuts down on the stress level and you are spending quality time with each of your children.

For all of the 4H mom and dad's out there. Good job.
I truely enjoy our county fair and seing all the wonderful things the young kids can accomplish.

Here's to next year and the fun of August.
