Enabling Parents of Delinquent Teens

What on earth would make an adult parent look the other way and allow their child to host an underage bash...where alcohol and drugs are the main course?

In short, my temperament on this subject is running thin. I want some action from our local police or I am going to be going to the press.

There are a few homes in our area where the parents let their children run their home. When my daughters gone and I need to find her I know to look there first. Most of the time she will be there drunk.

I am tired of talking to the woman and hearing her promise that she wont let my daughter come back there. Now I am just down right mad.

I am angry for my daughter and I am angry for any other parent who has a wayward child attending their regular weekly "bash."

I have reported this to the police on four occasions.
They arrested one young girl standing on the side walk with a drink in her hand. However they didn't do one darn thing to the Parent who was allowing her home to be used by these minors.

The cop even went as far as to tell the girl to stay in side if she is going to drink.

Isn't that just perfect advice? Stay in side so I won't see you and then I won't give you a ticket or arrest you. What a fine job this officer is doing for our community.

Drinking and drugs are a major problem with pre teens and young adults. However for a child who has been abused by alcoholic parents and may suffer a greater chance for addiction to alcohol or drugs.
A good parent must really work hard to teach the kids about addiction and help them choose to go a different way than the usual keg parties in high school and college.

I am just overwhelmed by the carelessness of parents who think there is no big deal in kids drinking or doing drugs.

Something must change.......anyone have any ideas for me on how to stop this from happening in our community?

One of our local TV stations has a "Call for Action" feature on their evening news that allows people who are experiencing difficult or frustrating circumstances to call for assistance. If the station feels that they can #1 assist and #2 (I suppose) get ratings from the situation, then they will do a short news piece regarding the situation.

If your area has something similar, maybe that would be something that could be a step in getting awareness of the police position & the neighbor's inattention (and unlawful behavior).
