Facing My Lack Of Knowledge On Foreign Adoption

I am the first one to admit that I do not have the first clue as to "How to" go about adopting a child from another International Country.

Some of my reasons are:

1.) Lack of Knowledge
2.) I do not speak another language fluently.
3.) I have never had the money to travel.
4.) I am not knowledgeable of the Laws in other
countries concerning adoption.
5.) Financially I do not have the money to live
in another country long enough for an adoption
to be completed.

So I have never thought that adopting a child from another country would be a reachable task for me and my family.

I love children. I have never met a child that I did not find something totally amazing about them.
So I am open to adopt a child from any nationality or race. Love has no colors or boundaries to me.
I just have never been one to fly a crossed the world to find a child that I wanted to adopt.

I simply found one who was living right here near me in my state. I found a complete family of children for that matter. I adopted as many of them as the Agency would allow me to take.

After I adopted my children I closed my foster care license so that I could give the kids I adopted the time and attentions that they deserved and needed.

I find International adoption fascinating now. I love seeing children rescued and given a new chance at life here in our America.

I respect the people who reach out and have the resources to adopt from the foreign countries and to give a child a home, medical coverage and a family to grow up with.

I just never thought about that path myself. I guess like in all things God places a calling in the hearts of man kind. Like the missionaries and doctors who give of their time and talents to countries in need. Or the people who join the peace core. Or work with Red Cross. They are all hero's to me.

Just as the Adoptive families here in America that take children like I did from the Inner City Streets. Who show them a different way of life.
It is like God giving us each a second chance.

I encourage all of our readers to check out the terrific writings of the Foreign Adoption Blogs on
AdoptionBLOGS.com. Their stories will touch your heart and help you appreciate the love and energy that others have for children all over the world.

What is the most important thing we should know about International Adoption? If you can answer that question ....please do so and leave us a comment. All comments are welcome.

All children need a Loving home.. we were called to adopt from Russia and what a wonderful life changing trip that was. I honor & respect all adoptive parents no matter what path they choose.

International Adoption is certainly not for everyone, but it has blessed my life in so many ways.

Great Post

In my view, the most important thing to know is that international adoption is NOT about, "children rescued and given a new chance at life here in our America."

It is about building a family in a world that is very small ... and you don't have to live in America to do that.
