We have had a large accumulation of snow over the past week or so. The kids have been given a few snow days to stay home and play.
With the below zero temps, no one has been able to get out in the mornings. But as the sun comes out and the temperature rises, the kids have had a blast.
Some have been really building some great snow and ice sculptures. One bunch of the girls built a telephone like the old time dial phones. The boys created a car with hood, tires, and seats. One of the dads got out there and made a hunter and then he and the kids made a deer.
We had cars stopping to see what the kids had done. It was so delightful to see the children really enjoy doing something creative and then to have people stop their cars and appreciate it.
We talked about maybe going to the ice show in Midland or Frankenmuth next year and then creating our own little examples if we get enough good snow again.
We went from a very mild winter and no snow for the holidays into a winter blizzard that has not let up on us yet. We are still facing below zero temps. for the next week or so.
It is just good to see the community enjoying it and not barking about how cold it is. A little cold topped off with hot chocolate and fresh baked muffins puts the right touch on a fun filled afternoon.
