When you have foster children or have adopted children that are older. They sometimes have a different religious belief than you may have.
So it vitally important to learn what you can about each child and help them to honor their own holiday traditions. As well as making them feel free to learn and participate in your traditions.
Everyone has the right to believe in different ways.
Just as we pick our own type of style in clothing and decor. So learning about different religions and the reasoning behind what they believe is an educational event.
Encouraging a child to believe in their higher power
what ever that may be can only help them find a firm foundation in life.
Creating a family tradition for holidays that belongs to just your family is also a nice way to make good memories.
As a child we would always get new out fits for Easter Sunday. We would have an Easter Egg hunt and then we would attend church as a family. When we got home we would have a wonderful Ham dinner and the rest of the day we would play and rest.
Encourage your children to talk about their Holiday traditions. Some will bring new meaning to the holiday and some can be added to your holiday so that everyone feels comfortable and enjoys their time.
