Hot August Summer Days

We are moving into some of the hottest days of summer. Everyone is trying to get in a few last days of vacation before the kids start back to school.

Staying cool and enjoying life is a good way to top off the hot summer days.

Everyone may want to get in some school shopping. Pick up those summer sales on school supplies and new out fits. Get the back packs all ready for that smooth return to school year activities.

Some of the most pleasant times I had with my kids were shopping for school supplies and getting them ready to catch that big yellow bus.

Every weekend we were out at the lake. Going out on the boat or fishing off the docks. We never kept anything we caught we just tossed them back home into the water.

The fun of it all was just being together and knowing one of us had something on our hook. I don't think any of us could clean a fish or proceed to fry it up and or eat it.

Swimming in the cool of the day and enjoying the sun sets seemed to be enough to make everyone happy.
I miss all those good times when the kids were younger.

This past year I have finally learned to stop cooking for an army and size down our portions.
There are so many changes as your children begin to grow up and start lives of their own.

We have been talking with Angela to see if she is open to the idea of maybe being a foster family again. So far she is not sure about that. She likes having all of mom and dads attention. Just as much as we like giving it to her.

Needless to say we have spoiled her rotten. And, we have enjoyed every minute of it.

I think for our last short vacation we are going to take Angela up to see White Fish Point in Michigans Uppen Penunsula. She loves rocks and old light houses just as much as we do. We want her to know what her own state has to offer in scenic beauty.
So maybe one day she will return there with her children and tell them stories of what grandma and grandpa used to do with her.

There will be row boat rides and waterfalls to explore. Agates to find on the edge of Lake Michigan. Natural springs that come from beneath the ground and still waters so deep that they act as a mirror to the clouds and sky.

It is all in exploring our own state in the hot summer days of August.
