How To Answer The Question

We all face people on a daily basis that may need to ask questions about our children. I have always thought it best to use the "need to know" basis.

As a proud adoptive parent. You may want to tell the world that your adopted child is the best. But it is a very personal matter. Sometimes the child might prefer you not to tell everyone about the adoption. They may want to bask in the beauty of knowing you are a "Real Family."

Of course school paperwork and medical paperwork will be one area that you may need to put down the facts. While in other areas you may not need to be
so open and can rely on the need to know basis.

Recently as I was checking out what the web has to offer us on Older Child Adoption. I ran a crossed a really cool site. http://www.adopting.org/OlderChild/whoandwhat.html It deals with "Who and what to tell." It is well written and the author is Susan Ward. She also writes for http://www.hannahandhermama.com/.

Taking your adopted child's feelings into consideration as they become older and life feels more like a family. Is a good Idea.

I want everyone to know how wonderful adoption is and how great life can be when you adopt an older child. Yet I had to learn the balance of "Who and what to tell."

This is a great read for older child adoptive parents. I hope you visit and enjoy it as much as I have.
