There are many ways to be a Child Advocate. Some people get there by the road of Education. A degree in Human Services is a great place to start.
If your avenue to helping children is through Education and Job Interest.
Another field of opportunity is in Child Custody.
Family Law Attorneys will always be one aspect of
Advocacy. Who they are and how they represent the parent will tell you if they are concerned about the children involved.
Save The Children Foundation is also another area where people can volunteer to help children and women. They stay up to date on legislation that ultimately affects Women and Children in need.
There are other ways such as getting involved in an organization that speaks up for children's rights.
However I am not one for all the politics.
I would rather work hand in hand with the children and families in need. So my gift is in helping other families in my community who need to find services for their child.
Knowing the right places to send a family in need
is just as important as education to me. Low income families often neglect dental care and medical care for their children because they just do not know what the state or community provides.
Knowing what Therapists are good in different areas for children and women also helps out a lot.
So get to know your community and the communities around you. That is one of the best places to begin in finding resources to help other families and children alike.
Being A Child Advocate can mean many things. Most of all it means you donate your knowledge and interests to help keep children from falling between the lines. You speak up and ask questions on what a child needs and you find a way to provide the child and family with the correct answers.
Talking to the child's school and making sure they are on a good road to proper learning skills is important. If the child needs help in school you speak up and ask for it and attend the meetings and special needs appointments, to be sure the child gets the education that the state offers him or her.
There are many careers that will allow you to become a child advocate. Just being a Foster Parent or Adoptive Parent is one very needed way to
be an advocate for children.
