How To Keep Team Spirit

Our Baseball season is just about over and all the kids have had a good time here in Michigan following our Tigers to the World Series.

After the first game with Saint Louis. The kids really moaned and groaned because the Tigers lost.
So as we all gathered around the T. V. to watch the next few games. We had to cheer each other up and find a better way of dealing with a loss.

The golden rule ...it's not if you win or loose but rather how you play the game. You can say that till the cows come home and still not be able to get a grip on reality when you want your team to win so badly.

I must admit I like watching all the kids faces as they are watching the games. My nephew just about lives each play in his reactions. So he is a lot of fun to watch.

We passed around small pieces of paper and everyone put down who they thought would win the second game in a hat. At the 9th inning we opened up the papers to see if we all had remained faithful Tiger fans or if our votes showed that we had lost faith in the Tigers after they lost the first game of the series.

Much to our surprise. People had lost faith. We had four votes for Saint Louis and three votes in favor of the Tigers.

We really had a good discussion after the Tigers won the second game. It is really hard to keep good team spirit when you feel the loss.

We decided that no matter what we would:

A). Support our Team with positive thoughts.
B). Be willing to except loss if it happened.
C). Remember there is always next year.
D). Work together as fans to wear our shirts and
hats in public as open display of our support
for our Team.
E). Be sympathetic to the other opposing team.
(Since we know how it feels to win and lose.)
F). Have fun and not be as competitive in our
observance of a game.
G). Always encourage each other to have positive
team spirit.

In almost every thing we do in life we will have someone working with us. So it is really important to learn early how to be a team player and how to support one another and do a job well done.

So now everyone is kicking back passing the popcorn and waiting for Football season to kick in high gear.

Until next year Goooooo Tigers ~!
