For each of my children I hand made a Life Time Scrapbook. It begins with any Biological Family History we may have of them. All of this is placed in the back of the scrapbook in a time capsule section.
I chose special fabric for each book. One that was my child's favorite color or a theme they were presently into. I trimmed each book with lace. Tied them with ribbon. Then placed special pages inside them that represented each child and the accomplishments they have made.
There are places for pictures, friends phone numbers, notes, birthday party info, school events. So on and so forth. I made extra pages so that there is plenty of room for them to express themselves and put in special drawings or letters from family or friends. Places to write down special gifts that they were given.
I found that one book lasted two or three years and they were so full that we had to create another one.
So scrap booking is a fun activity that we all get into around our house.
You can find wonderful scrapbooks and details for creating scrapbooks at: http://www.adoption.com/
Just check out the Adoption Products Area listed right there on the site. http://adoptionshop.com/
You can find some wonderful books on various topics of adoption also at the adoptionship.com web site.
Scrap booking never grows old. You may forget about it and come back to it a few years later. But with in each page you have created memories that can last a life time to your child and their children to come.
This is important to children of adoption. Especially to those who may not have childhood memories prior to their adoption. So all the pictures you take will be forever memories for them to draw upon for years to come.
How To Make A Home Made Scrapbook
I usually go to WalMart or Staples and pick up a 2 or 3 inch binder. I also get my fabric at WalMart of JoAnn Fabrics. I use a hot glue gun and use the fabric and some batting to make a book cover. Then decorating the scrapbook is up to the child if they want to add lace, ribbon or a picture frame.
If you want more details....leave a comment and I will blog on the complete process so you can follow along with me and create your own timeless memory books.
