Keep The Heat Make Sure You Eat

In this cold winter weather. Our bodies need a little more nutrition and calories to keep us warm.

Especially busy children who are out to play in the snow and are burning up calories right and left. It is best to make sure they stop long enough to have a good breakfast to start the day.

Warm oatmeal or some bacon and eggs may be just right for the menu. Orange juice and milk are better choices for a good morning drink. But a nice warm cup of hot chocolate laced with milk instead of water will work too.

Angela's blood sugar levels can fall fast during the day and she thinks nibbling at something is actually eating. I often have to make her stop and take time to eat a nutritious meal. Of course that is no fun if her friends are begging her to come outside and build a snow fort with them.

I try my best to keep some warm cookies and cold milk on order when the kids are playing outside.

When they come in half frozen and soaked from fun.
They will scarf down cookies and milk with no problem.

I also keep sliced apples and oranges, along with grapes and cubed cheese fresh at hand whenever possible. Those are good healthy treats that the kids can snack on during videos and games.

If you have any good warm treat ideas that kids seem to love. Feel free to share them. All comments are welcome.
