Madonna decided with her husband to adopt a child.
After her trip to Africa. She decided to try and adopt a child from Africa. She met a small boy named David who had been placed in the Orphanage after his mother died.

David had a 103 degree fever and was very ill when Madonna went to the orphanage to meet David. She said that all she wanted to do was help him. She set forth to adopt David.

He is now 13 months old. Living here in the U.S.A.
with Madonna, her husband and her daughter. A social worker will visit them monthly to make sure they are giving David a good life.

Madonna however, has had a tremendous amount of bad press because Davids father, who is a poor farmer who willingly relinquished his child to the orphanage after his wife died. Now is speaking out about Madonna and her adoption of David.

Madonna offered in court to bring David back to Africa and to provide for David's father and David.
Which he declined. However, other social groups have chosen to spot light how laws were possibly violated by Madonna.

Dateline NBC interviewed Madonna and David's birth Father. Madonna spoke out and said that the good that has come out of all this is that this orphanage in Africa will now be acknowledged and the children can receive help.

So why would the press hound her and Criticize her for her willing heart to help a child. Madonna said that daily she was brought to tears as she toured Africa and saw the children laying lifeless in their own urine. David was the one little life that she could make the most valuable gift to. The gift of family and a life in a new land.
