When ever I am working around the house Angela always wants to help me. Since she was three she always wanted a paper towel and some Windex to help dust the T. V. screen or the mirror or the front door glass. She would shine up anything her little body could reach.
She began cleaning her room at 3 and 1/2. She would say "Come Mommy See." Then lead me by the hand to see how she put her toys away and placed her stuffed animals on her bed in a row.
She had to have a vacuum just like mommy so she could help me. She would pick up papers and toss them in the trash and just work along with me.
I remember wishing that the older kids would catch on and watch her work and do some work with us. It seemed the older they got the lazier they became.
Now that Angela is almost 8 (Her Birthday is on May 30th) she is slacking off. We have to tell her to clean her room and we have to make her pick up her dirty clothes.
She is a little Diva and everything has to match and be in style. She takes over 10 minutes to put on her socks and get them just right. She hates to be rushed and her hair has to be brushed and groomed or she refuses to move.
I would say she has missed the bus about 10 times this year and she is only in first grade. So Im looking for ways to get mommy's little helper to wake up and help herself some.
I can't raise my voice or she begins to cry. If you try and hurry her up she seems to take that much longer. So far we have had to resort to getting up at six a.m. In order to get her out to the bus stop by 7:15 a.m.
We already pick her clothes and socks out for the next day before bedtime. We make sure her bath is done and her hair is brushed and dried before bed also.
I am still searching for ways to enhance her to move faster each morning. I have stopped short of making her coffee (giggle). She just is not a good morning person.
If you have any ideas to help me out...comment away
You would have my sincere appreciation for any good ideas.
