Our Cause

Categories: Adoptive Families, Welcome To Our Blog

My single, main cause can be defined as my passion for my very large family. A family put together by the adoption of nine sibling groups, and two other children, one birth and one all by herself, a rarity in our family. I can say, without a doubt, that this devotion to my cause, my family, is where I get my energy and I constantly hear people wonder aloud, “How does Cindy do all that?”

I do all this because I am deeply devoted to our cause and that alone energizes, challenges, and thrills me each day, making me always eager for the next day. I remain undaunted by the thought of 39 children.

I believe it is fairly safe to say that the one thing that unites all of us on this web site is our complete; some might say obsessive, devotion to one cause, that being, of course, adoption. It is amazing to look at all the aspects represented here, and many of us know, and feel, there are even more positions that could be explored as well, adoption is so multifaceted.

In the book, Success Built to Last, the three authors expound upon their theories regarding The Cause.

“Creating a life that matters is what most everybody wants. It's exactly what we heard from enduringly successful people all over the world--people we interviewed for our book, Success Built to Last. Builders--as we call them--do things because they want to build a meaningful life. They want to create a life that matters…”

“Enduringly successful people--whether they're shrinking violets or swashbuckling entrepreneurs--serve the cause, and it also serves them. It recruits them, and they are lifted up by its power. When that happens to you, a bigger, more engaging version of "you" shows up.”

I don’t wrap the word successful around me yet, all of my grown children have succeeded, but right now I have a tough foursome from four different sibling groups that are banging their heads against the wall figuratively speaking. I believe they’ll make it, I’ll hang in there with them, but it’s going to take an inordinately long time.

“Your personality is not what determines enduring success; it's what you do with your personality that counts. The essential difference with builders is that they've found something to do that matters to them and therefore are so passionately engaged that they rise above the personality baggage that would otherwise hold them down. Whatever they are doing has so much meaning to them that the cause itself provides charisma and they plug into it as if it was an electrical current.”

This is exactly how I feel; this cause energizes me at all times. My family matters to me deeply, more than anything else on earth and my family motivates me to get it all done each day.

I remain excited about our tomorrows as well.

I can't imagine a life without a cause, or two or three, and think that a taste for this flavor of passion is one of the great gifts we can give our kids.
