Set Up For Safety

As summer comes. We will need to up date the family rules for check in times and any other important things that may help keep your family
safe.

The sun will linger with us longer so our time for curfew may need to be adjusted. As school ends it is always good to have a daily routine set in place, something to keep kids of all ages busy.

Most of the older children often get into trouble and pick up bad habits like smoking if they have to much empty time on their hands.

Every city has some sort of program for kids during summer time. I know that the police even offer a mentor program for difficult children in some states.

It is always good to check into finding a big brother or big sister for your child if you work a lot and will not be able to spend quality time with them. But always remember nothing makes up for good parent and child time. They need your presence daily in their life to keep them secure and let them know that they are important to you and you love them.

With all the rule changes. Discipline changes may have to come into play also. Be wise when you set your rules. Make sure they are not overboard and that the child can accomplish what ever discipline you set before them. You always want your child to be able to turn it around for the good.

Some of the summer things I use as discipline are time out, grounding from the bike or playing basketball and or baseball, and grounded to the yard.

I try not to make them do work for discipline because I never want them to think that mowing or raking the lawn is punishment. It is something that needs to be done and can be fun when done as a family unit.

So think about your child and your home and choose your summer adjustments to the rules and discipline in a positive way that will reflect change.

Good Luck. Good Parenting.
