Sexual Predators Keep Out

Once again with all the press releases on the JonBenet Ramsey case. With the focus being on a child sex offender John Mark Karr.

I would like to remind everyone about the watchdog Web site. I have found it helpful in keeping our family updated on anyone in our community who might be of harm to our children.

I always remind people that the names placed on this list are people. They may or may not be guilty of sex crimes. Many people plead down in court cases to a lesser offense. So please do not assume that
the people on the list are serious criminals and violate their rights to have a normal life.

This Web site is to help you know who to watch out for. It will help you set boundaries for your children to help keep them safe.

And yes, in the case of a missing child, it offers police and other criminal investigators information to check up on to eliminate those listed as offenders who are in the immediate area.

Last year I met someone that had their name on this list. He had pleaded down to a lessor crime, not knowing that this meant his name would be on this offenders list. Years later the jealous step-daughter of his ex-wife recanted her story and now they are trying to clear his name.

We never know why children lie about things like this but it is a known fact that they do. So please do not disrupt some ones life just because their name appears on a list.

Once again these lists are there to help you make rules and boundaries for your children to keep them safe. Do not take chances. Do not allow your child to be friends or go around people who's names appear on these lists with out proper supervision.

It is good to know your community and who is in it. For that purpose we post from: http://www.familywatchdog.us/default.asp. It is good to check the list out about every six months just for personal updates and to keep your family aware and safe.

Well you think someone will be there to help protect your family, but I wonder....
My husband was on a jury who convicted a man of child sexual abuse and a week later we round the corner in our local grocery store to see him shopping! I am sure he remembered my husband, he followed us around the store, and now he has seen the faces of our whole family as well. I found later he was "out" awaiting sentencing, but geez if he was CONVICTED should he be out awaiting anything? I felt like the courts failed to protect US after my husband did his duty for them.

Peanut,

I do not blame you one bit for feeling that way. It is way to often that the criminal ends up with more rights than the victum.

In most cases if the man was standing in your yard and you called the cops to evacuate him. The police would just pick him up and drop him off around the corner.

I feel for you and your family and I hope things work out for you.
Your personal safety is what counts most.
