Time is ticking by and you are now waiting for your phone call. To let you know your new child is ready for adoption. Everyone hates the sit and wait part of adoption. It seems like it takes forever.
One of the good things about this time you have which I call pre-adoption moments Is.....
It gives you time to prepare. To clean rooms. Put a fresh coat of paint on the walls. Get your child some warm bedding. Make the new room cozy. And for us women....it gives us time to shop.
I love to catch the sales. I will often buy Christmas and birthday presents early. When I find a terrific buy on something I know the kids will like. I usually get it and put it up in my closet until it is time to wrap it up and give it away.
As a foster mom I found that the sale toys came in really handy as well as the clothing I would pick up from time to time on sale in various sizes. When a new foster child came into my home I would have a little extra fun things to offer them. Things that would be theirs to keep and play with wherever life would lead them.
So shopping for things your new child might need is a great idea on how to spend your time while you are waiting for their arrival.
Every year the stores have some really good sales on toys at the end of each season. Right now you can get some really good buys on summer items. I just pick up a few fun toys and put them away for next summer. They also come in handy for winter weekends when we visit a hotel with a pool. I bring out a colorful beach ball and everyone wants to know how I found a beach ball in the middle of winter.
That's when I smile and tell them I have my secrets.
Every good mom has a few secrets. It is all a part of learning to manage money and keep your family happy at the same time.
Preparing well is a good thing. So go shopping.
It wont be long before your new son or daughter will be playing with all those neat things you have caught on sale.
