From time to time we all need those warm fuzzy feelings. The ones that say to our heart "I belong right here." This is especially true of our children.
We spend so much of our time telling our children to do this or that during the day. It sometimes just becomes routine. Just as they need to learn those things we teach them. They also need to learn that they are very important to us and that our family is blessed to have each other.
I don't think anything can say it as well as warm hugs and snuggle time. When reading a book. Snuggled under the covers and all relaxed. Or sitting on the sofa watching a good funny movie. Just sitting there together, making good tender memories. That is what life and family is all about.
All children need this love and affection. We were made to love and need each other. That is what is so wonderful about families. I think God knew that just as the animals needed another partner of their own kind...So do we. Thus, family units began.
I think Foster/Adoptive Families are the strong holds of America. Just as America is the melting pot for different people of ethnic background. Foster/Adoptive families are the melting pot of American Families. We are mixed and matched but all sewn together like a beautiful patch work quilt.
Every member of the family is treated as equally as possible and loved as much as they allow themselves to be loved and to love back.
Snuggle memories can be made any time of the day. If you are bored...hug someone. If you give a hug. Chances are you may receive one back. Just as a smile will melt the heart of a stranger. A warm hug can be just what your brother or sister may need to make their day.
I encourage every parent to never let the sun set without telling their children how much they are loved. Helping them feel secure as children will help them become strong adults.
