Well as Spring is nearing and Summer is just around the corner, it is time again to remind the kids of all the Summer Safety Rules.
I try to tell my kids to always use the buddy system when going any place away from home. That means take a friend, a brother or a sister. If one of you sprains and ankle or gets hurt or someone bothers you, then the other can go for help.
When getting your bike out, tighten up all the things like your bike seat, handle bars, and check the tires for proper air fill.
Remember protective gear like helmets, knee and elbow pads. Keep a whistle, bottle of water, and a snack with you in a back pack or pouch. Then you will be ready to ride and have fun.
When swimming, do not run if the deck is wet and slippery, do not dive in unless it is a designated diving area. Follow posted pool rules. I know it sometimes dampens the fun but it keeps everyone safe.
When out in the sun wear light clothing that will help you keep cool. Use sun screen on unprotected skin. Remember to go into the shade and rest a little so you do not tire out to quickly. Drink lots of water and juice to keep you strong and healthy.
Start your day off with a good breakfast. It provides your body with the energy and gas it needs to make it run good like a car.
Do Not Ignore Rules. They are there for every sport for a reason.
So dig out the baseball and bat, pull down the old netting on your basketball hoop and replace it. Air up the basketball and soccer balls. Get ready for fun.
If you golf, remember to check the clubs and to always use golf safety rules when swinging the club and hitting the balls, so everyone stays safe.
Spring is a good time to make sure all is in order with your equipment and safety gear so you are ready for a lot of summer fun.
