Strawberry Chills and Good Conversation

This is the perfect time of year to m ake what we call "Strawberry Chills." It has been one of my favorite things to make in the summer time for years now.

You take 2 quarts of fresh strawberries. Wash them and cut them into bite size pieces. *Save several for decorating the top of the desert).

Add a little bit of sugar and shake them up in a zip lock bag. Place them into the refridgerator to chill. While you begin the next step.

Take one large package of Vanilla Instant Pudding Mix
and add one cup and one half of cold milk. Whip until you have a smooth thick pudding mixture.

Take one 16oz. tub of whipped cream and stir in 4 oz of sour cream. Combine and whip these two together.

Taking a sunday glass. Place a thin layber of strawberries, then a one inch layber of pudding, followed by a half inch layer of the whipped cream mixture. Start a second layber of strawberries, followed by one inch of the pudding again, and another half inch layer of the whipped cream mix.

Make layer by layer until you reach the top of the glass. Then slice the strawberries you have saved and decorate the top of each desert glass.

Place into the freezer for five to ten minutes until the mixture is good and thick. Then serve.

It is a smooth and creamy summer desert that almost all kids who like pudding and strawberries will love.

We often make these for desert after dinner or on a lazy day, when there is not a lot of anything to do.
Each one of the kids picks an ingrediant and we pass the glasses down like an assembly line. It is fun and before long we have made several deserts for the family. Plus we have had a lot of good giggles and smiles while we managed our creations.

It is all in a days play with the kids in the kitchen. My youngest daughter says not to keep them in the freezer to long or the strawberry will freeze. (A good thought from my eight year old chef)
