As a follow up to our Blog on "Stupid In America."
I received an excellent comment about educational differences in France compared to America. From a Mom living in France who is American.

Education is one of the areas that I have expressed concerns over for many years. To many of our adopted and foster children are not successful in achieving a high school diploma. Thus they do not take the open opportunities for higher education that are available to them.

One of our own Bloggers here on AdoptionBLOGS.com.
Michelle Vandepas also made an excellent comment and asked a question. She wanted to know if I thought this could be one of the reasons that more Parents are seeking to Home School their children.

Yes, I think with all the confusion and failing scores of our school system. Combined with the violence inside our schools. Of course, our parents are going to look for better options. One being to Home School there children in a safe and stable environment in their own home.

So for those of us busy parents who have jobs and can not donate the quality time to our children and be at home supervising their studies...Where does that leave us?

Even though our educational system is grim now. I do see new creativity and balance on the horizon.
Smaller schools. Less fund raising and extra curricular activities and more focus on Math, English,
Science and Life skills.

Computers can be both good and evil in the hands of children. With out supervision the inter net is too dangerous to allow a child access too. With the vast information at our finger tips it is not a choice but to make our children computer savvy.

Our world is based in communication and data skills.
So we have mountains of issues that need better focus and stable solutions.

I believe this year will be a year of awakening. I think parents will take their child's education a little more seriously. Considering all the high powered figures speaking out in favor of better schools and quality education.

We will still face the society of "Drop Outs" that care nothing for education but congregate to cause conflict and use school as a daily party hook up.

Until that changes and those kids are weeded out of the system. We will still see lower test scores and attendance issues in our high school curriculum.

This year will be an interesting step for American Education.
