Well it is time to teach our April how to do a budget. Needless to say if she is wanting to be on her own.
She will have to learn to stretch her money and get the main things she will need each day for survival.
Before she buys those cool boots she saw that were almost a hundred bucks.

She has been through nutrition classes and has learned to cook. We have gone over good ways to buy nutritious foods and still remain on a tight budget.
Substituting canned fruits for fresh fruits so they will last longer.

We have gone over high protein items like peanut butter and tuna fish. Which are very reasonable to buy on a budget. We talked about veggies and how important they are to young women in general who wish to stay healthy and one day have a family. She has to make sure she has enough Folic Acids in her diet. Which come from green foods.

Now giving her our grocery budget and sending her off with a grocery cart at Krogers was the next plan on our list.

She of course got some tuna, some peanut butter, she had some canned fruits and some green beans and peas.
However she left out cereal or eggs or milk or cheese.
She did not plan for meal items just quick fixes.

So we went over what a family needs. Ok We need breakfast. So what will we choose to buy that everyone will eat for breakfast. We chose two cereals. Oatmeal and some eggs.

Then how about lunch. We need some bread for that peanut butter or tuna. What will we mix into the tuna or will we eat the tuna as is. So we picked up some maricle whip and a loaf of wheat bread.

Ok for dinner...what will we fix. She decided she liked spaghetti so we will have some pasta and pasta sauce. We will fix green beans and a pork chop so she bought some fresh pork chops.

It was funny to add everything up. She was over budget in no time. She then asked "Mom how do you do it?" Not only do I do it but I do it for five people every week. Plus I buy for the cat and dog too.

The next thing on our list will be an over view of quick but not so expensive meals. I really am enjoying working with her. She seems to be picking up some good tips and offering a few also.

Stay tuned to our next April up date. hehehe
