Well the kids are off and launched into the world of Big Yellow Buses and Education.
We have gotten through class room orientations. School Emergency Cards. School supplies they need or do not need to bring to school. Class room rules.
Snack times, lunch schedules and what time the school bus arrives for pick ups.
Now I have been daily reminding my kids of school bus safety. I told them that teen drivers and even some parents are not used to the buses being back on the roads yet. So they do not drive as safely as they should. So we do the rules:
1.) Look both ways when crossing the street to get to the bus stop.
2.) Do not cross between parked cars.
3.) Wear visible clothing so you can be seen.
4.) Wait till the bus comes to a complete stop before crossing and entering the street by the bus stop area.
5.) Sit down as soon as possible and remain seated until the bus gets to the school and comes to a complete stop.
6.) Do not get into fights or arguments on the bus.
It takes the drivers attention off the traffic and can cause harm to everyone.
7.) Talk to your parents if you have a problem with the bus or driver.
8.) Be safe. Help others to learn the rules too.
9.) Be nice to your bus driver. Polite people are a pleasure to be around.
Good Rules are ones that you make together in order
to correct your child's negative habits. If they help you make them then they are more focused to follow them.
Good communication with all your child's teachers and bus driver is a positive thing. Helping your child ease back into a good routine will make the years go smoothly for everyone. Especially working parents.
So keep safe when the wheels of the big yellow bus go round and round. Drive responsibly and enjoy your fall season.
