Breeanna's stepmom arrived and spoke with the teacher. Neither the stepmom nor the teacher would allow Breeanna to speak. Breeanna's mom promised to get to the bottom of all this pencil business and assured the teacher it would not happen again.
On the way home Breeanna and her stepmom stopped at the beauty shop. She took Breeanna inside and told the lady to cut her hair. Breeanna began to cry. Both she and her sister had been growing their hair since they were babies. Now her beautiful long hair fell to the floor as the tears streamed down her face.
That night her dad came into her room. He was shocked when he saw Breeanna's haircut. It was just a bit past her ears. He tried to talk to her and to explain that sometimes parents have to do extreme things when they have a child who will not listen and keeps up with bad behaviors like stealing and lying.
Breeanna was past talking. She was so hurt. No one was going to believe her anyway so she just did not say a word.
Once again the dad called up his ex wife. Breeanna's birth mom was angry and hurt and she cried for her daughter. She could not explain why her daughter was doing this and she prayed for her daughter.
Breeanna's birth mom went down to a friend's house to talk. She needed a friendly ear. She was so hurt and angry that her daughter was being so harshly punished for stealing the pencils. After some thought the birth moms friend said, "Do you think Breeanna just likes pencils?"
If that were the case it would be easy to solve. You can talk to her take her to the dollar store and allow her to pick out her own beautiful pencils. She can begin collecting them. For every good day in school where she does not have a problem. That weekend when she comes to visit you take her and allow her to buy one more to add to her collection.
Breeanna's birth mom thought about this idea. When Breeanna and her little sister came for the weekend the mom did exactly what her friend had encouraged her to do.
She took the girls to the dollar store. She explained to Breeanna that a lot of kids like to collect things. Some like stickers and some like dolls. She got Breeanna to talk to her and yes Breeanna just loved pencils. The more color the better. Her face brightened up as she talked about how her friend had bought her the pink pencil.
She tried to talk but no one would allow her to say a word. No one would listen to her and even ask the friend if she in fact had given Breeanna the pencil.
Breeanna's birth mom hugged her daughters. She let each daughter pick out something they wanted to collect. Then she told them that every week if they are good at home and in school she would take them to the dollar store and allow them to pick out another pencil and butterfly (the little sister chose to collect butterflies) all of their own.
The week passed and both girls were doing exceptionally well in school and at home. So on their weekend with their birth mom, they were in for a great surprise. Not only had the birth mom saved extra money for their new pencil and butterfly. She had gone to the beauty salon and had her hair cut almost like Breeanna's.
When Breeanna saw her mom she smiled the brightest smile she had ever smiled. They went and bought their treats and once again Breeanna was a happy little girl.
Just a little understanding and a lot of love turned Breeanna's problems into a new shiny collection.
All of Breeanna's parents were happy to encourage her to collect her beautiful pencils.
