There was a young woman who got into some trouble by becoming pregnant at a very young age. She had no family that would support her or even give her the opportunity to be a mother to her baby. So when the baby was born She and the Birth Father decided that it would be best to just let the baby be adopted.

What makes this adoption story more personal is the baby girl was given away without either parent seeing her or welcoming her to this world. She was a beautiful baby girl. But it became very obvious that she had health issues.

These health problems made her a very difficult child to place for Adoption. So the first few years of her life was spent in Foster Care. That is when she was not in the hospital.

By age two it was a fact that she would never walk.
One of her legs had to be amputated and she had to have a shunt placed in her brain to allow fluid build ups to be released.

One day when it seemed that no one else would give her the loving family she needed. A kind hearted lady came into the center where she was staying.

It was almost love at first sight. The woman didn’t care that she only had one leg and the woman had nursing experience so the shunt did not offend her one little bit.

This beautiful baby girl was going to become her daughter. She and her husband provided this young lady with a very balanced and loving home. The little girl excelled. Not even her handicap kept her from doing the things she wanted to do.

It was not long before she was taking herself up the two flights of stairs to her bedroom. She often spent time out of her wheel chair and off doing chores and helping around the house.

The little girl went on to one day find a good man and they were married. She gave birth to her own son. It was not until then that she felt led to find her birth parents. Her birth mother welcomed her with open arms into her family. She had a half brother and sister that she soon became good friends with.

One day last fall we met on line and she told me of her desire to know her birth father too. So my husband and I went and picked her and her son up and we took them to find her birth father.

When we got there he was not home. But the beautiful lady out raking leaves in the yard happened to be the same nurse the young woman had working with her when she had gone through rehabilitation for her leg. This older woman was her fathers girl friend.

We gave her number and address to the lady and a picture of herself and her son. She made the invitation for him to contact her anytime. She made it clear she wanted nothing from him but just to know him and see his face.

That was over a year ago. He never has contacted her. But through the wonder of Adoption she had two very loving parents and has added her birth mom and her brother and sister to her family unit now.

Not every birth parent will want to look back or meet the child they once relinquished. For those who do….the reunion can be precious.

So to speak she left the ball in her birth dads ball park. It is up to him now if he ever wants to meet the only child he has on earth and her wonderful son.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of your search and most of all for being my friend. You have inspired me and give me a reason to cherish hope and the wonder of adoption once more.
