We have a family game that we play when everyone is bored or when a few of us are setting around and we have nothing much to do.
We call it the "Vacation" Game. One of us chooses a place for us to go on vacation. Then the game begins.
I say.......We are going on vacation to Florida
and we are going to take a.........
The next person repeats what I said and adds what way of transportation we are going to take then adds another part to the story such as........
We are going to take a plane there....When we get to Florida we will stay at .........
And the next person repeats all of the story so far and adds the name of the place we are staying and what we will do when we get to that hotel.
The game goes on and on until someone messes up and can't remember the sequence of the story. Of course we all chime in and keep it going. Before long we have created a complete vacation story and during the fun we worked on memory issues and creativity.
You will be surprised with how much good information the kids can come up with when the game gets deep. It also amazes me how much memory recall they have.
Using this game we introduced good books with lots of details to our children. Just like the "Vacation" game. They learn reading comprehension and good memory for details during their personal reading experiences.
This game creates a family vacation story and it creates a lot of good family fun. All in a day
at play with our kids.
