Heaven is a young girl who entered the system at the age of 9. Her birth father loved her and tried to help her but her mother had serious issues with her and did not want her in their home.
Through a series of events, Heaven was placed into a girls home, Children's Village. She remained there until she met my friends Dawn and Mike. Dawn and Mike spent time with Heaven and they loved her. They did not see why she needed to be in a place like children's village, so they tried to foster care Heaven.
When all else failed and the father decided he would sign over custody papers, Dawn and Mike fought to have Heaven placed in their home. It took a good attorney and a few prayers but they eventually got the state to allow Heaven to live in their home and allow them to be guardians over Heaven.
Heaven was a beautiful little girl with long blonde hair and blue eyes. She had a nice energy and she did very well in school. She often made the honor roll.
I would often tease and say, I wish my kids were all like that. Heaven welcomed her other adopted brothers and sisters and helped out with them a lot.
When Heaven was 16 things began to change for her. Like most children who have not had positive role models in their life as younger children, they tend to look for acceptance and love in the wrong places in life.
Heaven became pregnant. She dropped out of school in her senior year and gave birth too early. Her body was just not ready for the trauma of pregnancy. She was very blessed and her little boy lived.
This put her on an emotional roller coaster when she found out her boyfriend and father of her baby was now living with another girl.
Her relationship with him was off and on. This alone put stress upon Dawn and Mike who loved Heaven and their grand baby very much.
At 18 Heaven moved out of the house and in with a girl friend. It was not long before she hooked back up with the baby's father and got pregnant again. Now she has two children. She is trying her best to make her relationship work.
However one person cannot do it all. She loves her kids and wants a good life for them. She never wants then to have to go through what she had to endure as a child.
Thank you Heaven for sharing with us a small part of your life. You and your family will be in our prayers.
