There is nothing like a hot summer day and a good piece of cold watermelon to make anyone smile.

Most kids love watermelon. So the local Bible Camp keeps stocked up on watermelons to use for fun. They have the usual watermelon eating contest. The seed spitting contest. The watermelon soccer contest. The watermelon carving contests. It goes on and on.

Every afternoon after arts and crafts time. The kids all join in for a sing a long. We have a new member in our Bible camp this year. She is six years old and her name is Anna. Anna is from Korea.
She was adopted by a family in our home church.

Today Anna blessed us with her voice as she sung out loud to "Yes, Jesus Loves Me." In her own language.
She taught us a few words and after the sing along we all went out in the church yard to enjoy some watermelon before going home.

Anna had never had watermelon before she attended bible camp. It was fun watching her little face as she tasted it for the first time. It was not long until she too had watermelon all over her little cheeks and the juices were dripping down her hands.

Everyone loves Anna and Anna loves Watermellon. (smile) While the rest of us are all in Awe over our newest friend at bible camp, Anna is in Awe of the sweet taste of watermelon. She has given new meaning to the good old summer time games that deal with watermelon. Anna always asks after each game when we can eat the sweet melon.

It is kind of funny how old things we take for granite like watermelon and summertime can seem so fresh and new through the eyes of a child.

Please join us in welcoming Anna to American Life and Watermellon.
