When I Need To Smile

When I need to smile my husband is always good for a cute joke. However because of his job as a Gas Station Manager he often has incidents that are as humorous as a good joke.

I thought I would share one with you:

It was around six in the morning and the usual "Get to Work Fast" rush was on at the gas station. Several cars filled up their tanks and left. This one car kept sitting there. The lady got out of her car and walked to the back of the pump area.

Where someone had obviously left a cooler sitting there. She came into the store and told my husband that a suspecious looking cooler was out by the gas pumps. At first he thought of going out and checking on it. However the lady said that with it being placed so close to the pumps she was afraid it could be an explosive device.

After a few minutes my husband decided to call the cops and invite them to come and check out this cooler.

A few minutes later the police cars arrived and closed off every entrance to the gas station. They also closed off the street so that other vehicles could not come into the area.

The police secured the area and they stood at the boundaries of the parking lot to keep a close eye on this cooler. The bomb squad was called. Sure enough the police thought that it could be dangerous and they did not want to take any chances since the cooler was so close to the gas pumps.

My husband and the customer who reported the cooler stood safely inside the station with the other employees of the store.

No one had sold a cooler. No one saw who put the cooler there. So no one had a clue as to if the cooler was empty or if it did infact have a bomb inside.

After three hours. My husband asked the police when they expected to defuse the cooler and vacate so that he could re open his business. They were losing peak sales.

The officer assured him the bomb squad would be right there. Another hour passed. The bomb squad arrived. They checked out the cooler with exact
safety proceedures. It took twenty minutes before they finally felt safe enough to allow a robot to approach the cooler and remove the cooler and place it in a safety container to allow detination.

After several minutes and no detination. The robot was sent to open the container. Then with as much tension the top of the cooler was removed.

Several police officers and the bomb squad rushed to find out what the cooler contained. Then all of the officers went back to their positions and the bomb squad began to pack up.

Once again my husband asked "What was happening and when the station would be able to re open for business. The officer explained to my husband that the cooler contained ice and packed in the ice was a human Toe. They were now in the process of calling hospitals and in an attempt to find out who the missing body part belonged too.

Another hour went by and the station was still on lock down. The cooler had not been removed. When my husband inquired again as too when the station could re open. The police officer smerked and with an as a matter of fact tone in his voice said. "I guess you could say we are waiting for a Toe truck."

Moral of the story......Family Safety.....My husband took off running before I could put the hurt on him for getting me so into this stupid story
which ended up being just another stupid joke.

He is still laughing at me for believing him.

Some how I felt like the Joke was on Me.

Happy Thanksgiving To All.
